The Protestantse Kerk ( German  Protestant Church ) is the Protestant parish church of Grave in the Dutch province of North Brabant . The late Gothic church originally belonged to a beguinage .

history

In 1475, the Bishop of Liège granted the Graver Beguine Convent Maria Graf permission to build its own church, the construction of which began around 1500. The consecration of the single-nave, late Gothic hall church with a choir closed on three sides could not take place until 1526. Later the convent was converted into a Franciscan convent .

During the French occupation of Graves 1672–74, the church served as a horse stable, later it was used by the Huguenots and Lutherans. In 1802, under pressure from the French administration, the Reformed parish had to give up the parish church of St. Elisabeth, which it had taken over after the Reformation, and moved to the old Beginenkirche, which still serves the parish today. The congregation belongs to the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands .

The organ was built in 1806 by the organ builder Johan Tits (Venray) using older material from an organ from the 18th century. The instrument has twelve registers on a manual. The pedal (Ce 0 ) is attached.
