The Proteus Lake ( English ; Bulgarian езеро Протей esero Protej ) is a roughly pentagonal, west-east orientation 300 m long, 220 m wide and 3.9 hectare large lake on Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 1.42 km east-northeast of Terimer Point and 900 m west-southwest of Agüedo Point at the base of Brusen Point in the center of Flamingo Beach .
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named him in 2020 after Proteus , the sea god from Greek mythology .
