The Flamingo Beach (English; Bulgarian бряг Фламинго brjag Flamingo ) is a 2.6 km long and 600 m wide beach on the north coast of Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands, which is not covered in snow in the Antarctic summer . It is limited to the west by the Terimer Point , to the north by the Orión Passage , to the east by the Agüedo Point , to the southeast by the Quito Glacier and to the southwest by the Tetewen Glacier .
This area was already known to seal hunters in the early 19th century . Bulgarian scientists mapped the beach in 2005 and 2009. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2018 after the Bulgarian trawler Flamingo , who fished in the waters around South Georgia , around the Kerguelen , around the southern one from the 1970s to the early 1990s Orkney Islands and around the South Shetland Islands.
