Proto-Elamites

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Proto-Elamiter is a fuzzy name for the oldest known culture of Iran. The term describes the people who lived between 3200 and 2700 BC. Lived in the west of today's Iran in Chusistan . Since it was not yet possible to decipher the Proto-Elamite line script, despite about 1600 finds, it is unclear whether this people was identical to the Elamites who later lived there or not.

Proto-Elamite centers existed in Susa and Tappe Sialk , where the only preserved ziggurat is. In the late third millennium, the Elamites probably developed the Elamite linear script , which was at least partially deciphered, from their line script , but the Elamite cuneiform script, influenced by the Sumerians , also prevailed .

Culture became the focus of attention in 2007 when the Guennol lioness became the most expensive antique, selling for $ 57 million.
