Pseudoparesis
The term pseudoparesis (syn. Pseudo-paralysis ; from ancient Greek ψεύδειν "to deceive", "lie" and πάρεσις "to relax") is used in medicine for paralysis that cannot be traced back to a nerve defect.
The term is used in technical terms for:
- mechanically caused movement restrictions of the eyes , e.g. in the context of endocrine orbitopathy or an orbital floor fracture ,
- psychogenic and
- Pain-related restriction of movement (usually one extremity).
