Videoex
Videoex (Experimental Film & Video Festival Zurich Switzerland) is the only annual festival in Switzerland that is explicitly dedicated to the genre of experimental film . The festival has existed since 1998 and takes place in the last two weeks of May.
In addition to an extensive competition, Videoex presents Swiss and international retrospectives, special programs and a new guest program every year. The festival also includes expanded cinema live acts , performances, discussions and workshops.
history
The festival took place for the first time in December 1998 at the Xenix cinema in Zurich as a week-long international experimental film show. In the meantime, a diverse program structure has grown out of this. Since the festival was founded in 1998, the number of film and video works submitted has risen annually for both the international and the Swiss competition. In 2008 there were over 1,800 works from 51 countries. Although Videoex only serves a small niche audience, the quality of the works selected has made it an important reference in the field of experimental film in recent years.
