Pseudophasis nevilli ( Syn. : Erepta nevilli ) is an extinct Landlungenschneckenart that on Mauritius endemic was. The type epithet honors Geoffrey Nevill , who collected the type specimens.

features

Pseudophasis nevilli had a case diameter of 11 to 12.5 mm and a case height of 6.5 to 7.3 mm. The small, spherical, relatively thin case had a narrow navel. The protoconch was almost smooth with inclined irregular radial stripes. The sculpture on the other turns had protruding, widely spaced, sloping, winding radial strips that were crossed by a few, much finer spiral ribs. At the base was a sculpture of strong longitudinal ribs with a varying number of much finer longitudinal stripes in between. The color of the housing was yellowish brown.

Systematics

Pseudophasis nevilli was described by Henry Adams in 1867 as Stylodonta (Erepta) nevilli . In 1918 the species was placed in the new subgenus Pseudophasis of the former genus Tachyphasis (now a synonym for Ctenophyla ) by Louis Germain and in 1962 by Edward Henry Madge in the genus Dancea . Then she came into the genus Erepta . In 2002 Pseudophasis was raised to an independent genus by Anatolij A. Schileyko with Pseudophasis nevilli as the only species.

status

Pseudophasis nevilli is known both from subfossil material and from empty shells of living snails collected in the 19th century on Mount Le Pouce and in the Vallee des Prètres. Since 1996 Pseudophasis nevilli (as Erepta nevilli ) is in the IUCN Red List in the category "extinct" ( extinct ).
