Psycho Realm

Psycho Realm were a Latin American hip hop group from Los Angeles . Its members were Sick Jacken (Joaquin Gonzalez) and his brother Duke (Gustavo Gonzalez). Both come from the Pico-Union district in Los Angeles.

In 1993, they were by Louis Freese ( B-Real of Cypress Hill ) on the "Increase the peace - En barrio warfare" festival (Initiative Against Gang crime discovered), who during an appearance in the Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles saw . He spoke to the two of them after the show and supported them a few years later (1997) on their first album "The Psycho Realm". This album was released on Sony Records as Cypress Hill released their albums on that label at the time. Sony offered Psycho Realm to produce another album, but with the condition that the content of the very political lyrics be weakened. Psycho Realm ended their collaboration with Sony Records and in 1999 founded their label "Music of the mask".

In January 1999, Big Duke was shot in the neck in an altercation in East Los Angeles . After a resuscitation, the doctors found paralysis from the neck down. Some of the songs on the album "A war story book 2" were already recorded with Duke. His last song was "Poison Rituals". Psycho Realm was then dissolved and Jacken teamed up with Crow and Cynic from Street Platoon. Together with DJ FM they founded “Sick Symphonies”. Big Duke has an advisory role in this and maintains contact with fans through the band's website . He plans to produce a rock-heavy album in the near future .

Sick Symphonies distribute their albums themselves, control the production of their music and also handle the merchandising . Furthermore, the music of Sick Jacken, who released a solo album in 2009, has a very political / spiritual attitude. Jacken released an album with the DJ from Cypress Hill, DJ Muggs , and he was also featured on the 2009 album "Soul Assassins - Intermission", a project by DJ Muggs.
