Psychosocial short stature

The psychosocial dwarfism (formerly psychosocial dwarfism ) is a by deprivation related growth disorder. It occurs mainly in neglected children, abused street children and so-called wolf children .

Triggering factors

A combination of malnutrition , disturbed biological rhythms, sleep disorders and emotional reactions are discussed as triggers .

therapy

The therapy consists in eliminating the disease-causing environmental conditions on the one hand and promoting development on the other. It may be necessary to place the child in a foster family.
