Anna-Luisa Mahaffy

Anna-Luisa Mahaffy (born March 1, 1997 in Vienna ) is an Austrian violinist . Her mother Dagmar Mahaffy is a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

education

Anna-Luisa Mahaffy received her first violin lessons at the age of 3. At the age of 7 she was accepted into Evgenia Polatschek 's class at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . Since 2010 she has been taught by Dora Schwarzberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is also a student of the famous French violinist Pierre Amoyal .

Appearances

Mahaffy has been performing publicly for several years. At the age of 6, she performed as a soloist at a charity gala at Schönbrunn Palace . This was followed in the next few years, among other things, appearances in the Wiener Konzerthaus, at the Burgtheater , in the Bösendorfersaal, in the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the Wiener Festwochen and the Salzburg Festival , the European Youth Music Festival, the Festival Bad Ragaz , the Progetto Martha Argerich and concerts in Italy , Poland, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and Egypt.

In 2008 she was seen in the opening act at the concert of Ricardo Marinello in Austria. Together with her mother as piano accompanist, she played her first solo recital in 2009 at the age of 11 as part of the Amici del Loggione program at La Scala in Milan. In 2012 she won the selection game "Musica Iuventutis" at the Wiener Konzerthaus.

Awards and honors

Mahaffy has been participating in competitions since 2002 and has won numerous first prizes in national competitions. She received eight first prizes at the national youth music competition Prima la musica . In addition, she was honored with special prizes at national competitions, as well as the Alfredo Marcosig Prize and the Culture Prize and a medal from the city of Perchtoldsdorf (2003). Mahaffy has also been awarded 1st prize many times internationally:

In 2002 the Austrian radio made a documentary about Mahaffy. The Polish composer Elzbieta Wiedner-Zajac dedicated the piece A Little Fantasy for Anna to her , which she premiered in 2006 at the Konzerthaus in Vienna .
