Public Service Broadcasting is a group from London. Members appear under the pseudonyms J. Willgoose, Esq. Wrigglesworth and JF Abraham up. In 2015 they won the Progressive Music Award in the Anthem category .

history

At first the band consisted entirely of Willgoose. He made his public debut at the Selkirk Pub in Tooting , London, in August 2009. Shortly thereafter, he released the EP One .

Together with Wrigglesworth on drums, Public Service Broadcasting played their first festival, Aestival in Suffolk , in September 2010, and after working on a second EP, The War Room , it was released in May 2012. Since then the band has released three albums: Inform - Educate - Entertain (2013), The Race for Space (2015), Every Valley (2017). For the album Race for Space , two shows were given at the National Space Center in Leicester to celebrate the release of the album. It just missed the top 10 in the week of its release and was ranked 11th in the UK while also ranked number 1 in the UK Independent Charts.

A follow-up EP was released at the end of 2015 ( Sputnik / Korolev ), which was supported by a UK tour. The high point was the band's lavish headline show, a sold out night at the O2 Academy Brixton, of which a live album was released on two CDs plus one DVD in 2016. During the writing of The War Room , the band forged a close relationship with the British Film Institute and then used their material in the live shows.

Music style and live performances

The band mainly plays instrumental music together with sound and film clips from old public information films, archive recordings and propaganda material.

However, Willgoose sings on a track on the Every Valley album because the intended singer was not available.
