Publicpress Verlag , the Publicpress Publikationsgesellschaft mbH is a German leisure map publisher from Geseke , which specializes in adventure guides , cycle touring maps and hiking maps as well as motorcycle, winter sports, riding routes and mountain bike maps, city maps and travel guides . The program includes over 600 titles in Germany.
history
The publishing house has existed since 1977 and is a second generation family business. The management consists of Heinz Nettsträter senior and junior.
The publisher ceased operations in February 2020. The products were taken over and continued by the Austrian cartographic publisher freytag & berndt .
Products
The more than 700 leisure cards issued for different target groups cover almost all parts of Germany. In addition, the publishing program also includes some titles from Austria and Spain. Around 50 new cards are created every year.
The publishing program is divided into adventure guides, cycling maps, cycling and hiking maps, hiking maps as well as motorcycle maps, winter sports maps, riding route maps, mountain bike maps and city maps. A specialty are cards with fanfold. While the cycling and hiking maps depict a region, the Leporellos show a long-distance cycle or long-distance hiking trail marked out in nature - e.g. B. the Westweg - from start to finish. The focus of these maps is on the respective main routes, which are particularly highlighted in the sub-maps that are lined up. As part of a cooperation with the Top Trails of Germany association, the hiking maps for these long-distance hiking trails are published by Publicpress.
The hiking maps are predominantly on a scale of 1: 25,000, the hiking and biking leporellos are mostly on a scale of 1: 25,000 or 1: 50,000. The cycling and hiking maps are largely available on a scale of 1: 50,000, the cycling maps are predominantly available in a scale of 1: 100,000 and the adventure guides are available in a scale between 1: 100,000 to 1: 200,000. The publisher also produces special maps for companies as advertising media as well as special leisure maps and location maps.
Since 2011, Publicpress has also been publishing travel guides which, in addition to an active part of selected hiking and cycling tours, also include classic travel information about the respective region such as history, sights and hosts. There are also hiking guides and bike tour guides.
The trademark is a sun, which can be found on all titles, as well as the slogan PUBLICPRESS - The publisher with the sun .
