Publius Cornelius Scipio (Augur)
Publius Cornelius Scipio from the branch of the Scipions from the Gens of the Cornelier was a Roman priest, rhetorician and historian .
Publius Cornelius Scipio was the eldest son of Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus and brother of Lucius Cornelius Scipio . Because of his weak constitution, he was not politically or militarily active. In 180 BC He became an augur . He also wrote speeches and a Greek historical work that has not survived. He is best known as the adoptive father of Publius Cornelius Scipio Aemilianus Africanus , whom he adopted before 168. The inscription on the Scipion grave has often been incorrectly referred to him.
