Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio
Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio (* around 183 BC , † 132 BC in Pergamon ) was a Roman senator of the 2nd century BC. Chr.
The son of the two-time consul Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Corculum was since 141 BC. Chr. Pontifex Maximus ; in 138 BC He was consul himself . As leader of the Optimates he had in 133 BC Significant share in the murder of his relative Tiberius Gracchus . To save him from the vengeance of the popular , he was sent by the Senate on an advanced mission to Asia . He died a short time later in Pergamon . The nickname Serapio was given to him by the tribune Gaius Curatius because of his resemblance to a certain Serapio, a dealer of offerings.
His son was Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio (consul 111 BC) .
