Publius Servilius Rullus (Rider Guide)
Publius Servilius Rullus came from the Roman family of the Servilians and was 40 BC. Chr. Riding leader of Octavian (later Emperor Augustus ).
Life
Publius Servilius Rullus was possibly a son of the tribune of the same name from 63 BC. All that is known about his career is that he served as a cavalry leader in the conflict between the triumvirs Marcus Antonius and Octavian the latter , which continued after the Peruvian War (winter 41/40 BC) . Marcus Antonius returned in the autumn of 40 BC. BC returned to Italy from his stay in the east of the Roman Empire and besieged Brundisium when the latter refused to accept its ships. Octavian's friend and talented general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa was able to recapture the Sipontum taken from Antonius , but Rullus suffered a defeat in a cavalry meeting near the city of Hyria , although he was militarily superior to Antonius with his 1,500 cavalrymen. Soon the triumvirs were temporarily reconciled in the Treaty of Brundisium . Rullus was not mentioned again later.
