Publius Silius Nerva

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Publius Silius Nerva was a Roman politician and senator .

The Silii Nervae were accepted under the patricians under Augustus . There is practically nothing certain about the family circumstances of Silius. All we know is that he is the son of a Publius Silius. In the year 20 BC Silius was consul and then worked as a legate in Hispania citerior . On 16 BC His governorship in Illyricum is to be dated. There Silius won victories over the Pannonians and Alpine tribes. Perhaps he was the one Suetonius reports that he often sat at table with Augustus and played dice.

His wife was Coponia. From this marriage comes Aulus Licinius Nerva Silianus , consul in 7 AD. Perhaps Publius Silius , consul in 3 AD, and Gaius Silius , consul in 13, were also his sons.
