Puckane ( Irish : Pocán ), sometimes also called Puckaun , is a rural village in the north of County Tipperary in Ireland . It is 10 km north of Nenagh on the R493 road and close to Lough Derg and Dromineer . The village has over 257 inhabitants (as of 2006) . The local landmark is the "Paddy Kennedy's Pub".

Personalities

Lyricist Shane MacGowan spent most of his childhood in the adjoining Carney Estate and immortalized a variety of local places in his songs such as "The Broad Majestic Shannon". The village is also mentioned in a popular Christy Moore song.
