The Puente Salto Grande is an international road and rail bridge in South America.
It leads over the Río Uruguay on the crown of the dam, which damms the river to the reservoir Embalse Salto Grande at that point . It connects the neighboring countries Argentina and Uruguay , whose cities Concordia and Salto are both located a few kilometers downstream from the Salto Grande hydropower plant, which is also located on the reservoir . The Comisión Técnica Mixta de Salto Grande is responsible for the Puente Salto Grande, which is used for both road and rail traffic, but on which freight trains only run a few times a month .
The construction was built between 1974 and 1979.
