The PULSION Medical Systems AG is a German medical device / pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Munich and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of hemodynamic monitoring.

Pulsion's business area is Critical Care, which addresses intensive, perioperative and emergency medicine, and focuses on the management of cardiovascular and organ functions in critically ill patients.

In the 2018 financial year, the company achieved sales of EUR 24.5 million with 78 employees.

history

Pulsion was founded in 1990 by Ulrich Pfeiffer and introduced the PiCCO monitoring system in 1997 . In 1999 Pulsion Medical Inc. was founded in the USA. In the same year sales subsidiaries were founded in France, Great Britain and the Benelux countries. In the following year, sales subsidiaries were opened in Australia and Spain. Pulsion Medical Systems AG went public in 2001. In 2008, Wittek changed from Chairman of the Supervisory Board to the position of Chief Executive Officer .

In addition to PiCCO, the company also manufactured the diagnostic drug ICG-Pulsion, which was approved in 2007. The active ingredient indocyanine green (ICG) is a fluorescent dye that is used in medicine as an indicator substance (e.g. for photometric liver function diagnostics and fluorescence angiography ) for heart, circulatory, liver and eye diseases. It is also used in neurosurgery .

The company was taken over by Getinge AB in 2014 and integrated into Maquet ; on September 14, 2014, the Annual General Meeting approved a corresponding domination agreement. In February 2016, the Pulsion Perfusion division with the main product ICG was sold to Diagnostic Green , a subsidiary of the Renew Private Group .
