Punta Barra ( Cabo Chiclana in Argentina ) is a sandy headland on the south bank of Potter Cove , a side bay of Maxwell Bay on King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands .
Chilean scientists named it after Carlos Barra von Kretschmann, captain of the Piloto Pardo on the 26th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1971–1972). The background of the Argentine naming is not known.
