The Bensberg Puppet Pavilion is a stationary puppet theater in the Bergisch Gladbach district of Bensberg .

The puppet pavilion has existed since 1988 and was founded by the puppeteer Heide Hamann . Hamann had been traveling with her own travel stage "Lapislazuli Puppentheater" for ten years and had worked as an assistant to Rudolf Fischer from the Darmstadt Puppet Theater on several TV productions for the ARD and ZDF children's programs. Hamann retired in December 2008.

The actor, puppeteer and reciter Gerd J. Pohl has been running the puppet pavilion since January 2009 . Pohl was previously director of the Piccolo Puppet Show touring theater .

The theater is located on the grounds of the Bergisch Gladbach Johannes Gutenberg Realschule and is housed in a former pavilion building, in which additional classrooms were set up in earlier, high-school years.

Every year the dolls pavilion is visited by around 9,000 spectators. There are performances by Gerd J. Pohl himself as well as guest performances from other renowned theaters and advanced training events for educators and teachers . The program includes puppet shows for children and adults as well as readings, lectures, panel discussions, discussions and concerts in small cast under the title “Bensberg Encounters”.

The emblem of the theater was created by Eduard Prüssen , who was a city graphic designer for Bergisch Gladbach when the theater was founded.

The puppet pavilion is supported by the members of the theater's own association.
