Puyo

Puyo is the capital of the Ecuadorian province of Pastaza , was founded in 1899 and had a population of 33,557 in 2012 . Puyo is at approx. 900 m. Height above sea level , is on the edge of the Amazon basin near the Rio Pastaza and is surrounded by tropical rainforest . In recent years tourism has become more and more important, especially in the field of ecotourism and adventure tourism, and the trip from Baños to Puyo has been the most popular mountain bike route in Ecuador with tourists for a long time .
