The small reservoir Limni tou Pyliou ( Greek Λίμνη του Πυλίου , also: Νερομάνα Neromana ( f. Sg. )) On the Greek island of Kos was dammed in a karst spring area . The water was used to irrigate the agricultural plain of Kos. The lake is located about 1.5 km northeast of the village of Pyli on the road from Kos to Kefalos . It covers an area of about 0.2-0.3 hectares.
The bank area is lined with reeds , silver poplars and oleanders . Turtles, eels and goblins live in the lake .
history
The lake was built in the 1920s on the orders of the Italian occupiers to bridge periods of drought. According to historical data, there was previously a difficult-to-access swamp area at this point.
