Al-Qayyara ( Arabic القيارة, DMG al-Qaiyāra ), also known by the names Qayyarah and Kajjarah , is an Iraqi town in Ninawa Governorate .

The place is about 30 kilometers south of Mosul on the western bank of the Tigris .

In August 2016, the Iraqi armed forces liberated the place from the Islamic organization IS . The place will be used in autumn 2016 as a base for the storm on the Iraqi city of Mosul. The military airfield Qayyarah Airfield West is located near the village .
