The QianWei-2 (short: QW-2 or export name Vanguard 2 ) is a Chinese short -range surface-to-air guided missile system . It can be used shoulder-supported or installed on vehicles and is used to combat helicopters and fighter planes at low altitudes.
description
The anti-aircraft missile was presented at an air show in 1998. The QW-2 was developed by CASIC 119 (Shenyang Hangtian Xinle Ltd.), is essentially a copy of the Russian 9K310 Igla-1 and was developed using reverse engineering . It represents the successor system to the QianWei-1 . Basically, the minimum operating height has been reduced from 30 m to 10 m and the maximum range has been increased from 5 km to 6 km. The response time has been reduced to under five seconds. The QW-2 has a passive dual-band infrared seeker head , which is not only largely resistant to flares, but also to heat from the sun and the ground. The weapon can be used at outside temperatures between −40 and +55 degrees Celsius.
