Qiantang-Jiang Bridge
The Qiantang Jiang Bridge ( Chinese 钱塘江 大桥 , Pinyin Qiántáng Jiāng dàqiáo , English Qiantang Jiang Bridge ) is a double-decker rail and road bridge over the Qiantang Jiang (Qiantang River) near the Pagoda of the Six Harmonies in the south of the West Lake in Hangzhou in the Chinese province of Zhejiang .
It was designed by the Chinese railway engineer Jeme Tien Yow (Zhan Tianyou) and built by the bridge architect Mao Yisheng . Construction began on August 8, 1934 and was completed on September 26, 1937. On December 23, 1937, it was blown up in the Anti-Japanese War to stop the advance of the Japanese. In 1953 it was rebuilt. It is 1453 m long and has 15 pillars.
It has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-950) since 2006 .
