Qiu Zhijie
Qiu Zhijie ( Chinese 邱志杰 , Pinyin Qiu Zhijie , * 1969 in Zhangzhou ) is a Chinese video artist and photographer .
Life
Qiu Zhijie studied at the Hangzhou Art Academy until 1992 . He lives in Beijing and is established in the Chinese art scene, but almost unknown in the West.

His long-term project Suicidology of the Nanjing Yangtzi Bridge , begun in 2006, includes both a steadily growing archive and a theoretical and practical examination of the phenomenon that since its completion in 1968 over 2000 people have chosen the Yangtzi Bridge in the east Chinese city of Nanjing as the place of their suicide.
