Qoʻrgʻontepa ( Russian Кургантепа Kurgantepa ) is a city (shahar) in the Uzbek province of Andijon in the Fergana Valley and the capital of the district of the same name .
The city is located about 40 km east of the provincial capital Andijon . It has a station on the Andijon- Karasuu line of the Uzbek Railways ( Oʻzbekiston Temir Yoʻllari ). The Andijonsoy and the Shahrixonsoy flow through the city .
In 1976 Qoʻrgʻontepa received city status. According to the 1989 population census, the city had 19,565 inhabitants, according to a calculation for 2010, the population was 27,197.
