QorIQ

QorIQ is the name of a series of microcontrollers with PowerPC architecture from Freescale Semiconductor . It consists of the 5 product families P1-P5, all of which are based on the e500 processor core or its successors. They are used in embedded systems , primarily as network devices ( routers , switches ).

QorIQ controllers have 32/32 kB data / instructions L1 cache per core .

P series

P1

The P1 series comes with Gigabit Ethernet controllers, two USB 2.0 controllers, a 32-bit DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller with ECC support, two quadruple direct memory access (DMA) controllers, and SerDes , which can be configured as a PCI Express or SGMII high-speed interface. The chip sits in a 689-pin housing, which is pin-compatible with the P2 series.

P2

The P2 models have a 512 kB L2 cache as standard, a cryptography engine, three Gigabit Ethernet controllers, a USB 2.0 controller, a 64-bit DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller with ECC support, two quadruple Direct Memory Access (DMA) controllers, and SerDes , which can be configured as three PCI Express , two SGMII or two RapidIO high-speed interfaces. The chips have the same package as the P1 series.

P3

The P3 series has L3 Cache , DUART , GPIO and USB 2.0, cryptography modules, and a SerDes connection with 18 lanes that can be configured as Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet , RapidIO or PCI Express. The P3-5 series share the same housing.

  • P3041 - four 1.5 GHz cores, 128 kB L2 cache per core, one 1.3 GHz 64-bit DDR3 controller. Manufactured in 45 nm structure width, 12 W power consumption.

P4

The P4 series is identical to the P3 series except for the higher performance.

  • P4080 - eight e500mc cores each with 128 kB L2 cache and two 1 MB L3 caches for each of the two 64-bit DDR2 / DDR3 memory controllers. The controller consumes less than 30W

P5

The P5 series uses 64-bit e5500 cores with up to 2.5 GHz, but otherwise it is backwards compatible with the P3 and P4.

  • P5010 - an e5500 2.0 GHz core, a 1 MB L3 cache, a DDR3 controller, manufactured in a 45 nm production process, 30 W power consumption.
  • P5020 - two e5500 2.0 GHz cores, two 1 MB L3 caches, two DDR3 controllers, manufactured in a 45 nm production process, 30 W power consumption.
  • P5021 - two e5500 2.4 GHz cores, 1.6 GHz DDR3 / 3L, 10 × Gigabit Ethernet, 2 × 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
  • P5040 - four e5500 2.4 GHz cores, 1.6 GHz DDR3 / 3L, 10 × Gigabit Ethernet, 2 × 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

AMP series

The AMP microcontrollers are all based on the 64-bit e6500 core with AltiVec support. The clock frequency reaches up to 2.5 GHz, the chips are manufactured in a 28 nm production process.

T2

  • T2080 - four cores e6500 , eight threads, 16 SerDes
  • T2081 - four cores e6500 , eight threads, 8 SerDes, smaller design of the T2080, pin-compatible with the T1042

T4

  • T4240 - twelve e6500 dual-threaded cores, three memory controllers
  • T4160 - eight cores, two storage controllers
  • T4080 - four cores, two storage controllers
