Qt Extended (formerly Qtopia or Qt Palmtop Environment ) is an application platform for Linux -based PDAs , tablet computers and mobile phones developed by the Norwegian software company Trolltech . Development was stopped on March 3, 2009.

Qt Extended was available under the terms of the GPL as well as under a proprietary license ( dual license system ). It does not use an X server that is otherwise common under Linux , but writes directly to the Linux framebuffer . Qt Extended is e.g. B. used on devices such as the Greenphone from Trolltech, the Zaurus from Sharp and Archos PMA400 (PMA430). There is also a variant for the Openmoko Neo 1973 and the Openmoko Neo FreeRunner.

In the future, the functions of Qt Extended , under the name Qt Mobility , will be made available through APIs in the Qt library .

An open source project that goes back to the last version of Qt Extended and is supported by the Openmoko community is Qt Extended Improved , also known as QtMoko .
