The Quarab Horse is a cross between the Arabian thoroughbred and the American breeds Paint Horse or Quarter Horse . This breed has been mainly bred in America since the 1950s. It was there that ranchers discovered the advantages of this hybrid early on. The breed has been recognized in Germany since June 1, 2010 and is looked after by the German Quarab Horse Association eV (GQHA) founded in 2004 .
Background information on horse evaluation and breeding can be found under: Exterior , interior and horse breeding .
Exterior
Quarabs combine the stamina, the focus on people, the stable legs and the pretty face of the thoroughbred Arab with the athletic, strong physique, the willingness to perform and, in addition, the special colors of the quarter and painthorses . The result is a pretty all-round talent for many different disciplines. Depending on their disposition, they are convincing both in endurance rides , western tournaments or in jumping and dressage competitions and of course as a reliable leisure partner.
interior
Many attributes of the original races can be found in the character of the quarab. You can be extremely people-related and empathetic like a thoroughbred Arab , but just as particularly willing to work and with strong nerves like a Quarter or Painthorse . Of course, the rearing plays just as important a role in the development of these characteristics as the disposition.
breed
The breeding goal is pure breeding, i.e. the result of mating F1 generations or higher. The starting breeds Quarter - and Painthorse and Arabian thoroughbred are permitted for refinement. From the optimal pairing of 50:50 to the classic 1/8 to 7/8 method is bred. A proportion of at least 75% to 25% is desirable. The GQHA strives to continuously improve the breed characteristics through an assessment and entry in the stud book of horses at least three years old.
