The Queisser Pharma GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized pharmaceutical company based in Flensburg .

history

It emerged from a merger of two companies, Queisser Pharma, founded by the pharmacist Alfred Queisser in Hamburg , and Doppelherz Pharma, created by the Essen-based druggist Josef Peter Hennes . Both companies merged to form what is now Queisser Pharma , which in turn has been part of the Flensburg-based HGDF Familienholding Ltd. since the late 1970s . & Co. KG is owned by a family company whose head office was founded in Flensburg as early as 1738 and is also the majority owner of Flensburger Pilsener . Today Queisser is an international company with around 500 employees, whose product portfolio is active in sub-segments of the health market.

The company's economic focus was initially on the production and marketing of the "Energy Tonic " Doppelherz developed by Hennes in 1919 . In the 1990s, the range was expanded to include various products in the field of vitamins , minerals and other food supplements under the Doppelherz brand . Outside of the pharmacy , Doppelherz has achieved market leadership in many sub-segments, especially in the area of ​​vitamins and minerals.

In 2006, Queisser Pharma introduced the “Doppelherz system” product line, which is sold exclusively through pharmacies. A range of food supplements with a special composition is sold under this name. The subsidiary Doppelherz Pharma GmbH, based in Flensburg, is the competence center for chemical-synthetic and individual, well-documented herbal medicines in the EU.

Products and Markets

criticism

Greenpeace is accusing Queisser of violating the Antarctic Protection Treaty because of the production of Doppelherz. Trapping krill for the production of omega-3 fatty acid capsules would cause great damage to the Antarctic environment.
