Quiet party

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A quiet party (also known as a silent party) is a party where no one speaks. Instead, non-verbal communication, flirting and ordering takes place using notes and pens.

The concept was developed by the artist Paul Rebhan and the musician Tony Noe in New York City , when they could not talk to each other due to excessive ambient noise.

The first Quiet Party was held in New York City in October 2002, and later in many other cities including San Francisco , Washington, DC , Houston , Paris , London , Berlin , Barcelona, and Beijing .

Similar unorthodox activities include smart mobs , flash mobs , and cuddle parties .
