Quilpué is a city in Chile . It has 149,596 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geography and climate
Quilpué is located about 20 km east of Valparaíso in the Región de Valparaíso . The city is about 300 m above sea level. The climate is mostly dry with pleasant temperatures.
history
Quilpué received city rights from President Federico Errázuriz Echaurren on April 25, 1898 . On August 16, 1906, the city was shaken by a severe earthquake in which 20 residents lost their lives.
From 1894 to 2003 there was a German school in Quilpué. The school was then moved to El Salto.
The city has had a zoological garden with around 700 animal species since 1990.
