Quizfire was a half-hour quiz show that was broadcast from April 2001 to August 2003 in the afternoon program on weekdays on the television station Sat.1 . At first ordinary candidates took part, later exclusively German celebrities . The moderator was initially Meinert Krabbe , who was replaced by Sebastian Deyle in the first year of the broadcast .

Gameplay

Five candidates sat next to each other in a semicircle on chairs that, when a candidate left, after a visible "buzzer" press by the moderator, drove them into the basement of the studio and thus "sank" him. The questions came from a wide variety of topics and were mostly solvable in nature.

First of all, each of the five candidates was asked two open questions, with which they could earn one light for the main round for each correct answer. This began with an open question to everyone that the fastest could answer. If answered correctly, he was allowed to choose a teammate who then had to answer the next question. Three possible answers were then given, one of which was correct. This round was played until one of the candidates answered incorrectly. Thereupon one of his lights went out or, if all lights were out, the participant dropped out. The round then continued with an open question to the remaining candidates.

If three candidates were eliminated within a certain time, the final was played between the last two remaining. Otherwise the main round was ended and open questions were asked of all. The first two candidates who answered a question correctly then played the final.

This was played according to the best-of-five mode with open questions, i. H. the first to answer three questions correctly won the final.

Candidates

In the course of the broadcast, the concept was quickly changed to allow only prominent candidates to participate. The celebrities involved were often former candidates from the Big Brother show , which was successful around the year 2000, or other people whose public attention often did not last long. In individual cases, they took part in several Quizfire episodes.
