The Rába H18 is an all-wheel drive truck (6 × 6) from the production of the Rába plant in Győr, Hungary .

Model description

The Raba H18 is a 6 × 6 military transporter built on a U-profile ladder frame, the development of which began in the mid-1980s. The first prototype was based on the chassis of a Soviet 6 × 6 truck from KamAZ . In the course of the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, the future was based on MAN military trucks, such as the MAN gl . In 2004 the first H18 were finally put into service with the Hungarian armed forces . The vehicle complies with NATO standards. As with the H14 model , the H18 uses the MAN driver's cab from the MAN gl.

The vehicle is powered by a 6.9 liter MAN turbo diesel engine of the type MAN D0836 LFG01 with an output of 206 kW. The drive torque is transmitted from the engine to a manually shifted, synchronized nine-speed gearbox from the manufacturer ZF. It has 9 forward gears and one reverse gear and is shifted in the double H scheme. With the exception of the first gear, which is designed as a creep gear, and reverse gear, all gears are synchronized. The differential of the transfer case, which distributes the torque between the front and rear axles, can be locked. The vehicle is equipped with a dual-circuit brake system, ABS, retarder and trailer brake system. A cable winch with a pulling force of 70 kN is also installed.
