Róbert Koltai [ ˈroːbɛrt ˈkoltɒ.i ] (born December 16, 1943 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian film and theater actor and film director .

Koltai graduated from the Hungarian Theater and Film School in 1968 and began his acting career at the Kaposvár Theater . Koltai played on the stages of Pécs and Veszprém as well as at the National Theater in Budapest. Koltai gained wide popularity through his participation in television series.

Koltai's 1993 film Sose halunk meg (We Will Never Die) , in which he served as director and lead actor, was extremely successful in Hungary. The same applies to Szamba (1996). Despite a certain outsider role towards the Hungarian cinema scene, Koltai's sentimental comedy and humor based on Jewish family roots have received international attention.
