X-ray run

The X-ray run is a German landscape run that has been held annually on the last Sunday in October in Remscheid since 2001 . The main competitions ultramarathon over 63.3 km (1.5 times the marathon distance), marathon and half marathon run mostly on the Röntgenweg . There is also a wealth of other competitions (distances of 400 m to 10 km) that are held near the Hackenberg sports center. Since 2010 there has also been a 100 km run every five years.

On the distances from the half marathon, there is also a rating for Nordic walkers and walkers . Another Nordic walking distance of 13.3 kilometers and the relay competition on the ultramarathon distance (3 × 21.1 km) complete the extensive range of competitions.

More than 4,000 athletes take part in the X-ray run. In view of the large number of spectators at the respective finish lines and especially around the Hackenberg sports center, the X-ray run has also become an important social event in Remscheid. In particular, the centrally located sports hall of the Hackenberg sports center is extremely popular as a meeting place for active people and spectators. Both the award ceremonies and other programs take place here (including various demonstrations, the marathon fair, snack stands).

history

As part of the X-ray run, the German Doctors' Marathon Championship takes place every year. In addition, the sixth German marathon and half marathon championship of the financial administration was held in 2006. In 2007 the German championship in cross and landscape run of the German Ultramarathon Association was held as part of the X-ray run. To mark the anniversary of the X-ray run in 2010, a competition over 100 kilometers was organized for the first time, in which 119 men and 16 women reached the finish. Alexander Wildschütz won in 8:46:12 h and Claudia Stader in 10:15:53 ​​h.

In 2002 the ultra marathon had to be canceled due to a storm.

Route

The start is at the Hackenberg sports center. After a small round through the Lenneper old part of the Röntgenweg is run counter-clockwise. In Clemens Hammer is the target for the half marathon runner, at the swimming pool Eschbachtal below the Eschbachtalsperre the goal for the marathon runner. The ultramarathoners cover a full lap on the X-ray path.

In the ultra marathon, around 850 meters in altitude uphill and downhill must be overcome, in the marathon 540 meters uphill and 650 meters downhill and in the half marathon 265 meters uphill and 420 meters downhill.
