Rørvik is a place in Norway . It is one of the two administrative headquarters of the municipality of Nærøysund , is located on the island of Vikna and had just over 2,600 inhabitants in 2007. In August 2010 there were already 3,700 inhabitants.

Economy and Transport

The traditional main occupation is fishing and agriculture . The largest single employer is the Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor , but most jobs are still in fish farming, fishing and the fish processing industry. The community is the landing stage for the Hurtigruten ships. There are three fast ferry connections to the next larger city, Namsos , three times a day . The city can be reached by air via Rørvik Airport, Ryum , not far from the city center. The city and airport are now connected to the Fv17 coastal road around 55 kilometers away via road Fv770 .

The coastal museum, which documents the history of the coastal inhabitants and their professions, is particularly worth seeing. The Rørviker Church , a well-known sight on the Hurtigruten , was destroyed by fire in 2012 and is currently being replaced by a modern new building.
