Rüdiger Bergmann (born April 3, 1942 in Marienwerder ad Liebe / West Prussia) is a German painter .

activity

In 1984, Rüdiger Bergmann became known nationwide in Germany for his underwater activities. In an art project in the Indian Ocean off the island of Giravaru in the North Male Atoll, he fixed self-made underwater motifs in a dead coral wall. 1984 is also the beginning of his painting under water.

His first underwater exhibition took place on October 6, 1984 in the indoor garden pool in Wesseling. The vernissage guests went under water. The audience was able to experience the course of events on a porthole and on a monitor with dry feet.

The different structures of the seabed perceived during his painting under water stimulated him to fix sand on canvas in his studio. In 1992 the first sand pictures were created with mainly blue colored sand on the subject of "evolution".

In 1995 he traveled to West Africa. He deals with the cultures of the peoples living there and their mythologies. In addition to the creation myth of the Dogon in Mali, representations of found objects and rock art from the Algerian Sahara and the Namib Desert dominate. For these sand pictures he prefers original sand from different regions. Since an art project in Russia in 2005, combined with an exhibition in Moscow and Perm / Urals, he has been supplementing his sand-mixing techniques with found objects from his travels and materials from everyday life.

Rüdiger Bergmann (DGPh) has included photography in his creative work since 2000 . He prefers to combine body shapes with everyday impressions, advertising messages, crown caps and brittle facade details, among other things.
