Rüttens Bullshit Universum is a satirical TV show by and with Peter Rütten . In this, films, preferably B-films from previous decades, are re- dubbed with humor .

History and production

As the main author of the Harald Schmidt Show , Peter Rütten had already written satirical texts. He also had extensive experience as a speaker on this show and in various other late-night shows and satirical formats. Rütten also tried out the concept of synchronizing film clips with new, humorous texts that give the plot a completely new meaning in the Harald Schmidt Show.

Concept and special features

The broadcast concept mainly includes the humorous re-synchronization of films and television interviews. But current affairs from politics and the media are also taken up in cuts and commented on by Rütten. Here, original recordings mix with post-dubbed passages, giving what is shown a humorous setting. As "Pete Power aka Dr. Dunsthaube ”, Rütten also appears in front of the camera, comments on current headlines and parodies moderators compulsively striving for youthfulness. In addition, the clips are partially transferred by moderation from Rütten. These represent a kind of framework for the program and often show Rütten in dialogue with Schubert, who appears in the role of director of the program.

The opening credits are very reminiscent of Monty Python's Flying Circus and show Rütten in a silhouette in scenes and posters from well-known films.

Charisma

After all thirteen episodes have been broadcast for the first time, the material will be reused by Tele5 as part of various broadcasting concepts. The so-called “Ultimate Collection” followed first, which was a best-of episode and again had a framework story with Rütten and Schubert. In addition, the scenes in "Rüttens Bullshit of the Month" and "Rüttens Bullshit of the Week" are rearranged and provided with a connecting commentary by Peter Rütten. In “Rüttens Bullshit of the Day”, one of the scenes that has already been broadcast is broadcast daily at prime time without any further frame.

Reviews

Epd.de complains about a lack of originality and ingenuity in the format and believes that Rütten "prefers to support hung B-movies with new dialogues that are far too ostentatiously vying for absurdity."

Quotemeter.de thinks that the format of the show, measured by his ingenuity, is too long, because "half an hour of such nonsense synchros, as you already know from the" Wochenshow "or Harald Schmidt, quickly becomes tiring, All the more, because fun synchros are usually only really funny if you know the template and thus the humorous divergence between the original text and the new version becomes apparent. This aspect is completely lost in Rütten's cheap film collection. "
