R-Studio is a range of fully functional recovery programs for Windows , Mac and Linux operating systems . These programs can be used to recover data from hard disks (HDD), solid state drives (SDD), flash memories and other external and internal data storage devices. The programs are intended for data recovery experts.

For non-professional users, the simplified R-Undelete program based on R-Studio has been developed and published. It is only available for Microsoft Windows. It has a simplified user interface and a hexadecimal editor, data recovery from RAID and networks is not supported in this version. For private users, R-Undelete Home is offered free of charge, files can be restored from FAT / exFAT file systems, mainly used with USB sticks and SD cards for digital photo and video cameras.

functionality

The program uses two methods of data recovery:

  1. Data analysis on hard disks to obtain information about the existing and the pre-existing file system. Files are restored based on this information. If successful, this method can not only restore the files themselves, but also the folder structure on the drive, including timestamps.
  2. Search for files by means of file signature, ie typical byte patterns for certain file types, for example for .jpg or .doc files. This method is used when the information about the file systems is so badly damaged that the first method does not work. This method can only be used to restore file contents; information about file names, folder structures and time stamps will be lost.

Program content

In addition to the data recovery program, R-Studio includes:

  • A fully functional disk editor for data processing.
  • A modern RAID recovery module. Standard RAID levels as well as custom RAID levels are supported. RAID parameters can be found automatically.
  • A module for memory mapping and file cloning.
  • A module with a system for self-monitoring, analysis and status reporting for hard drives ( SMART ).
  • A network data recovery module for both local area networks and the Internet.
  • An emergency version of R-Studio for data recovery from non-bootable computers. This can be carried out from any removable storage device (USB, CD / DVD etc.) supported by the PC, regardless of the operating system (Windows, Macintosh or Linux).
  • An integration module with DeepSpar Disk Imager, a professional tool for imaging failed drives. (Only for the technician license.)

There are versions for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. All versions work the same.
