RStudio is the company RStudio, Inc. offered, integrated development environment and graphical user interface for the statistical programming language R .

RStudio is available as a local desktop version as well as a server version with the same layout. The environment is divided into four rectangular areas, in which one is used for scripts , another as a command line with output of the programming code and another for the display of objects in the work environment. In a fourth region can be personalized with riders graphical output, a package management , the folder directory and get more. The server version runs on a Linux server and is accessed via a web browser .

RStudio enables autocomplete , automatic indentation , syntax highlighting , code folding , integrated help and information about objects in the working environment. There is the possibility to view and edit data sets . Scripts, data and other files can be combined into projects ( .Rproj ), which makes collaboration easier, especially since version management with Git is included. Packages can be installed and loaded with the help of package management . Creating reports using knitr or Sweave can take place from RStudio out. A graphical debugger is included. In addition, code can be compiled in C , C ++ or Fortran and integrated directly.

A commercial version that includes support can also be purchased for both versions of RStudio . With the commercial server version , several sessions can run in parallel and different versions of R can be used. Project sharing and resource management are also easier.
