Walter Völkl

Walter Völkl (born February 26, 1929 in Vienna ; † January 28, 2009 there ) was an Austrian composer , music teacher , conductor and writer .

Völkl received private concert guitar lessons from Adolf Dallaba at the age of eight, had his first concert under Luise Walker at the age of eleven, he was with the Vienna Boys' Choir in 1941, attended the Vienna Conservatory from 1945 to 1947 , and studied with Karl from 1947 to 1949 Scheit (guitar), clarinet and music education at the Vienna Music Academy , from 1946 to 1973 appearances and tours as an ensemble musician (among others with Hilli and Franky Reschl and the Drei Spitzbuam and from 1952 with the Wiener Polizeimusik ) but also with his own dance orchestra (with Interpreters like Hans Moser or Udo Jürgens ). Since 1964, Völkl has been a light music composer and author (with readings), also working as a freelancer for publishers and for ORF with his own programs. From 1973 to 1985 he taught at the Beethoven Music School in Mödling , where he also directed the city orchestra, and was also a youth adviser and judge at the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association.

He found his final resting place in the Ottakringer Friedhof (6A-3-13) in Vienna.
