The RAM Kindertheater is an independent theater based in Hildesheim . The program is mainly aimed at school children and families. A new piece is added roughly every year, sometimes an own, sometimes an adaptation. The theater tours predominantly in northern and western Germany.

history

The RAM Children's Theater emerged from the satirical a cappella trio “The Ramazotti Sisters” (1995–2000), consisting of Manuela Hörr, Regine Hittmeier and Anne-Grit Mikhart. After the end of the trio, the women initially continued to produce theater for adults in other formations. The abbreviation RAM arose from the first letters of their first names , meanwhile RAM stands for English rapid arts movement . The first theater production for children was carried out by Hörr in 2003 with her husband Mark Roberts. Since then, the RAM Children's Theater has consisted of the duo Hörr and Roberts.

RAM has been producing theater and performances for young audiences since 2012. The main themes here are responsibility and empathy. Music played live is always of great importance.

In addition to its work as a professional theater, RAM offers citizens' projects at irregular intervals, such as the Hildesheim Complaints Choir (2013–2015) and the Unterwegs.Chor Hildesheim (2016–2018).

In 2007 RAM Kindertheater produced their first CD with Die Lauscher and the Open Ear Day , which was followed by more in 2011 and 2013. In 2015 the bilingual CD Kirschbaumtage / Cherry Tree Days received the “Good Music for Children” award from the Association of German Music Schools .

concept

Hörr and Roberts are looking for the connection between theater and music. You choose or write pieces in which music can be an integral part of the action on stage. At the same time, stimulating the audience and raising children's awareness of the stage, music, sound and dramaturgy is important to the ensemble. This usually includes doing without technical reinforcement and recording.
