The R.Weiss Group Holding GmbH & Co. KG (proper spelling in capital letters) as the holding company of R.Weiss Group, an international group of companies with administrative headquarters in Crailsheim is one of the leading German manufacturers of packaging machines and automation technology . The R.Weiss Group is divided into several corporate divisions and consists of independent subsidiaries, company holdings and foreign branches and employs more than 1000 people worldwide.
history
Founded until 2000
In 1990 Reinald Weiss founded R.Weiss Sondermaschinen GmbH. The company initially employed two people in a hall rented in Crailsheim-Onolzheim for the production of functional elements, assemblies and special machines. In 1992 the name was changed to R.Weiss Maschinenbau GmbH and the company moved to its current headquarters in Crailsheim-Altenmünster. In the same year the first end-of-line packaging machine, a pneumatic box erector, was built.
In 1993 the company split into the two divisions R.Weiss Maschinenbau GmbH with a focus on machine modules and individual parts production and R.Weiss Verpackungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG with a focus on end-of-line packaging technology (side-loading and wrap-around packaging machines). In 1995, due to its steady growth, the company acquired the company's current headquarters in Crailsheim-Altenmünster.
2001-2010
In 2001, R.Weiss Verpackungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG developed the first UNI ROB top-loading machine, in which an industrial robot was integrated into the packaging cells hanging from above for the first time , thus enabling a work area of 360 degrees.
From 2006 to 2009, various additions and renovations to the company building were carried out at the headquarters in Flügelau. In addition, the independent division R.Weiss Automation GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2008, whose main field of activity includes the series production of machines and systems with assembly service and at the same time the construction of Plant II in Crailsheim, in the immediate vicinity of the headquarters, began.
In 2010 the takeover of Bleichert Automation GmbH & Co. KG in Osterburken took place. In 2011, construction began on Plant III in Crailsheim and the assembly area for the mechanical engineering and packaging technology divisions was expanded to 5,000 square meters.
2011 until today
In 2012 Ertl Automation GmbH & Co. KG in Straubing was bought. With a 51 percent stake in ERS Steuerungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Osterburken, another specialist in the field of automation technology was acquired.
In 2014, the R.Weiss Group expanded as the parent company of the companies Bleichert and ERS from Osterburken with a subsidiary, Bleichert ERS Automation Systems (Nanjing) Ltd. to China. Two years later, the purchase and expansion of a 30,000 m² new location for BLEICHERT Inc. in the USA and the associated move from the Sterling Heights location to Shelby Township took place.
In 2018, the R.Weiss Group acquired further properties with an area of 45,000 square meters at the headquarters in Crailsheim in the Kraftwerkstrasse industrial park. This means that the company has properties with a total area of over 100,000 square meters available for strategic expansion planning.
