Clive F. Mann (* 1942 in Essex ) is a British ornithologist .

Life

After graduating from Colchester Royal Grammar School, Mann studied at University College London from 1961 , where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and anthropology in 1964 . He then moved to Makerere University in Kampala , Uganda , where he received the Diploma of Education. From 1965 to 1975 he taught in schools in Uganda and Kenya . In addition, he devoted himself to ornithological field studies , for which he published numerous papers on population dynamics , breeding and moulting cycles , zoogeography and migration . In 1976 Mann returned to London, where he studied Polytechnic Taxonomy at Central London and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1979 . In the 1980s he was a member of the steering committee of the British Ornithologists' Club (BOC) for four years . In the 1990s and 2000s he worked as a trustee for another five years and as chairman of the BOC from 2001 to 2005. He was also chairman of the Trust for Oriental Ornithology.
