Gustav Heinrich Seffer

Gustav Heinrich Seffer (born July 28, 1816 in Alfeld an der Leine , † February 18, 1876 in Hanover ) was a German Protestant pastor , school councilor , publicist and high school inspector .

Born in Alfeld in the early days of the Kingdom of Hanover , Gustav Heinrich Seffer attended the Lyceum there in Hanover and then studied religion at the University of Göttingen from 1835 to 1838 . On the New Year of 1839 he was appointed as a provisional collaborator at the Johanneum in Lüneburg . After seven years in this office, Seffer returned to his hometown on Easter 1846 to work there as pastor diacon. From 1848 he managed the royal school teacher seminar in Alfeld as an inspector.

From 1851 Gustav Heinrich Seffer took over the post of high school inspector of the consistory based in Hanover. There he died almost a quarter of a century later as a government and school councilor.

For a time, Seffer was editor of the magazine Hannoverscher Volksschulbote .
