A packaging machine or system represents a technical unit that completely or partially wraps the packaged goods (e.g. production parts , containers , goods ) with a packaging material (e.g. tape , cardboard , film ).

Details

According to DIN 55405 is packaging defined as the manufacture of a pack / of a package by combining packaged goods and packaging using packaging methods by packing machines, equipments or by hand. The packaged goods represent the goods to be packed and the packaging is the generic term for all packaging materials and packaging aids.

The packaging process is divided into three categories:

  1. manually
  2. semi-automatic
  3. fully automatic

The latter two points are made with the help of packaging machines, which work according to the most varied of principles, depending on the goods to be packaged and the desired package. The purpose is to produce transport packaging (shipping packaging), outer packaging and / or stackability.

Manual strapping tools are used wherever entire pallets have to be secured. In contrast, automatic packaging machines are used for smaller shipping units such as B. boxes, sacks or elongated goods are required. The difference between a semi-automatic (approx. 20–40 packages per day) and fully automatic packaging machine (from approx. 40 packages per day) is that in the semi-automatic machine the strapping has to be manually guided around the package. The strapping is triggered by a sensor or the push of a button. The machine does the rest of the process automatically (tensioning the tape to the preset tension, welding and cutting). With the fully automatic machine, the goods are strapped automatically .

Packaging machines are often highly efficient systems for fast and safe packaging of (sensitive) goods. More complex, powerful machines can easily be reprogrammed and used for different types of packaging. Handling and packaging machines often work directly with and with one another and should therefore be coordinated with one another. The variety of types in packaging machines is very large. The spectrum ranges from simple film wrapping stations to complex systems with automatic loading, packaging folding and sealing. The area of automatic packaging of goods also includes labeling, stacking and transport security. A large selection of special machines is also available for this.

There are very different and different types of machines such as those for filling and dosing , blisters , packers / unpackers, wrapping and wrapping , labeling , shaping, filling , sealing, filler, cartoning, palletizing , tubular bags , securing, shrinking , strapping , top / Front loader, transport and more.

In addition to standardized packaging machines that are suitable for different, but similar packages, there are also special machines that are only developed and built for a single, individual packaging process. These special packaging machines are often part of a complete production line.
