RAF Support Command

The RAF Support Command was an air support command of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) between 1973 and 1994 and was responsible for the maintenance and repair units, support and, from 1977, also for the training of the air force.

history

On 31 August 1973, the former responsible for maintenance was RAF Maintenance Command in Support Command renamed and its previous commander Air Marshal Reginald Harland first commander of the Support Command . After the previous Air Training Command ( RAF Training Command ) was subordinated to the Support Command on June 13, 1977 , this was renamed RAF Support Command , the first commander of which was the previous commander of the RAF Training Command, Air Marshal Rex Roe . On April 1, 1994, in turn, the RAF Support Command was divided into the personnel and training command of the air forces ( RAF Personnel and Training Command ) and the logistics command of the air forces ( RAF Logistics Command ) .

Commander

The Support Command or RAF Support Command was subordinate to a Lieutenant General ( Air Marshal ) as Commanding General AOC-in-C ( Air Officer Commander-in-Chief ) according to today's NATO rank code OF-8 .
